Methodologies - O' Grady 04/10
One of the last classes we talked about some methodologies in English teaching. Some of them are:
Grammar Translation Method: That emphasizes reading, writing, translation and the conscious learning of grammatical rules;
Audiolingual Method: The main goal is to develop nativelike speaking ability in its learners;
Communicative language teaching Method: that the focus are in how to produce an appropriate, natural end socially acceptable utterance in all context of communication.
All of theses method are still used and after to study them more deeply, we can affirm that is impossible to choose only one of them to teach and that never is gonna exist a perfect approach for we follow it.

Motivation - Douglas Brown 04/10

Motivation is the extent to which you make choices about goals to pursue and the effort you will devote to that pursuit..
One of the motivation camps is a traditional view of motivation that accounts for human behavior through a behavorioristic paradigm that stresses the importance of rewards and reinforcement. This is the Behavioristic definition, that define motivation as “THE ANTICIPATION OF REINFORCEMENT” – That’s when learners persue goals in order to receive externally administered rewards: praise gold stars, grades, certificates… It is extrinsic motivation.

Grammar Translation Method and Foreigner Talk... 22/09

Grammar Translation is a method of foreign or second language teaching which makes use of translation and grammar study as the main teaching and learning activities. A typical lesson consists of the presentation of a grammatical rule, a study of lists of vocabulary, and a translation exercise.
The method emphasizes reading rather than the ablity to communicate in a language and later a greater emphasis on the teachng of spoken language.

Some of the characteristics of foreigner talk are:
- It is a slow than normal speech often with a exaggerated pronunciation
- It use a simplified vocabulary and grammmar. For example, article, function words, and inflections may be omitted, and complex verb forms are replaced by simple ones.
- Topics are sometimes repeated or moved to the front of sentences, for example: Your bag? Where you leave your bag?
Native speakers often fell that this way of speech is easier for foreigners to understand.
